GOVERNMENT SECTORMostly government ministers from across the developing world will be invited to be represented at ministerial level. Sub Sahara Africa, Asia, Middle East, Europe, Americas and Far East Asia will receive invitations to attend at government level or through their representative embassies in South Africa. This will be done through chairing some of the event sessions, table top presentations and networking throughout the two days. PRIVATE SECTORThe role of business in creating employment, wealth and services has been grossly overlooked in the entire MDG campaign The private sector only gets a brief mention in the Millennium Development Goals. Yet it is business –entrepreneurs, employers, investors and workers – who are best positioned to help areas such as Africa and the rest of the developing world achieve the Goals. At this event some of the world’s key solution providers will be available to showcase their products and services and speak about the importance of engaging them as an equal partner in promoting sustainable development and making the MDGs a reality for all. Sectors to be represented in the exhibition pavilions are:
CIVIL SOCIETYThink tanks, environmental groups, intermediary organizations and Diaspora groups, social movements and community groups, are some of the groups that will share the platform at this event. The Civil Society plays a huge role in helping relieve poverty by reaching disadvantaged groups and neglected areas that governments often fail to reach therefore playing a pivotal role in the contribution towards the MDGs. |
